Top 50 Video Games

In a year where people were coming out with Top 50, 100 etc. lists for the millenium
beginning JANUARY 1, 2001, I decided to follow suit.  Here are the Top 50 20th century video games in my eyes.

    50 - Wolfenstein 3D - Key groundbreaker for corridor shooters
    49 - BurgerTime - If that bastard walks on my burgers...
    48 - Need For Speed Series - Run from cops without FOX
    47 - Mario Kart 64 - Good racing, not great
    46 - Vigilante 8 - Blow s*** up!  'Nuff said
    45 - Shinobi - Ninja platform games have always been fun to me
    44 - Virtua Racing - Without this, no Rush, no Daytona, no NASCAR
    43 - Lethal Enforcers - Came with a gun, now if the game was good...
    42 - Hot Shots Golf - Excellent golf engine, although very cartoony
    41 - Duke Nukem 3D - Sector over sector(a first), and very adult oriented remarks
    40 - Super Mario Bros. - Forever changed platform gaming
    39 - Donkey Kong - Don't you just hate those damn barrels?
    38 - Sonic The Hedgehog - Made Sega into a major force
    37 - NHL/NHLPA Hockey Series - EA Sports revolutionized sports sims
    36 - Mortal Kombat 4 - Fatalities in 3D!  Gory as ever
    35 - Prop Cycle - You can burn your eyes and legs.  Great!
    34 - Destruction Derby - Demolition unmatched anywhere
    33 - Night Trap - Interactive B-movie, but made headlines in '94
    32 - Madden NFL Series - See #37
    31 - Tekken Series - Intro to 3D fighting 101
    30 - SimCity - Build a city, then tear it to the ground
    29 - Sonic The Hedgehog 2 - Blast Processing is BS, but game rocks anyway
    28 - Mortal Kombat - Digitized characters and fatalities
    27 - Super Mario Bros. 3 - Raised the bar for platforms one more notch
    26 - NBA Jam - First arcade action sports game, "Boomshakalaka!"
    25 - Pitfall - First real good adventure game.  Has anyone beat it?
    24 - Warcraft II - Blizzard perfected war strategy
    23 -Turok: Dinosaur Hunter Series - Very good shooters in Quake mold
    22 - Marble Madness - It may look bad now, but it is very addictive
    21 - Starcraft - Futuristic look, but same Warcraft gameplay
    20 - Pac-Man - We all remember how cool this was, right?
    19 - Resident Evil - Very creepy game, B-movie feel
    18 - NFL 2K - If this were 6 months older, it would be top 10
    17 - Quake - Put "3D" into 3D Shooter
    16 - Donkey Kong Country - Rendered GFX, Many levels
    15 - GoldenEye 007 - Who wouldn't want to take over as Bond, James Bond
    14 - Doom - Brought 3D shooters to the forefront
    13 - Soul Calibur - The gameplay, graphics will blow your mind
    12 - Myst - The only game I know of that makes you think hard
    11 - Pong - You can trace it all back here
    10 - Mortal Kombat II - Clearly the finest of the series
    9 - San Francisco Rush Extreme Racing - Caution: Flying Cars
    8 - Killer Instinct - 3D fighting and 99 hit combos!  Sweet!
    7- Street Fighter II Series - Cartoony look, but started a genre
    6 - Resident Evil 2 - Much creepier than the original
    5 - Sonic Adventure - Vast terrains and six characters make this an excellent game
    4 - Super Mario 64 - The plumber hits 3D in a big way
    3 - NFL Blitz 2000 - Combine football with wrestling, "Holy F***ing S***!"
    2 - Final Fantasy VIII - I'm not with FF, but this looks awesome
    1 - The Legend Of Zelda- Ocarina Of Time - Nintendo's crown jewel on the N64 has great depth, gameplay, and replay value
